Netflix release of “The Last House”

Netflix announced that the science‑fiction thriller “The Last House,” directed by Louis Leterrier and starring Greta Lee and Wagner Moura, will debut worldwide on 7 August 2026. A promotional photocall was held at the Soho Hotel in London on 2 August 2026, where the leads presented the film to the press.

The story follows a married couple and their two children who become trapped inside their home by an unseen external force, forcing them to survive with dwindling supplies. The production was shot entirely inside a single house that deteriorates over time, creating a claustrophobic set that Leterrier described as the most difficult film of his career. He noted that the narrative also explores themes of consumerism and greed, prompting viewers to consider how they would cope in a similar lockdown.

Supporting cast members include Riley Chung, Emma Ho, Noah Alexander Sosnowski, Gabriel Barbosa, as well as Sid Edwards, Lewis Goody and Audrey Anderson. Produced by Chernin Entertainment, 3 Arts Entertainment and others, the 110‑minute film will be available on both standard and premium Netflix subscription tiers.

The release adds to Leterrier’s recent work on high‑profile action and thriller projects and expands Netflix’s 2026 slate of original genre titles, with coverage ranging from U.S. and European media to French‑language press in Algeria.
