Norwegian Cruise Line waterpark launch

Overview

In early August 2026, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) released the first images and details of the Great Tides Waterpark on its private island, Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas. The preview highlighted a 24,000–25,000 m² facility with 19 slides, including a four-person body slide, duelling uphill “Master Blaster” slides, a floating tunnel, and family-friendly areas, as well as new dining venues and a two-berth dock.

By September 2026, it was revealed that the waterpark is a central component of a $350 million project to transform the 270-hectare island. The development includes a 52-meter Tidal Tower, cliff jumps, and interactive water games. Local officials, including U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas Herschel Walker and Member of Parliament Randy Rolle, attended a preview event, noting the project’s economic impact through the creation of construction and ongoing service jobs.

NCL confirmed the park opened on schedule on 4 September 2026. The inauguration emphasized the same attractions, added an adults-only Vibe Shore Club and beachfront cabanas, and noted that the new pier now allows cruise ships to dock directly, reducing tender-boat transfers. Day-pass options were made available for guests on eligible Caribbean itineraries, completing the broader redevelopment of the island.
