To mitigate these risks, specialists recommend a combination of healthy diet, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, and smoking cessation. Additionally, research involving UK Biobank data suggests that adhering to a Mediterranean lifestyle—incorporating specific dietary patterns, regular physical activity, and adequate sleep—is associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular mortality among adults with type 2 diabetes.
