Oncology support and prevention initiatives

Cancer support organizations in Argentina, Venezuela, Spain, and Ecuador continue to implement community initiatives focused on prevention, patient care, and resource management.

In Spain, the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC) has scheduled a series of free workshops and events for October and November. This program includes psychological support, nutritional guidance for ostomies, and conferences regarding breast cancer in young women. Physical health services will offer physiotherapy for chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, podiatry, and osteoporosis prevention, alongside the XVIII Zamora Race Against Cancer.

In Argentina, efforts remain focused on community engagement and financial sustainability. While previous initiatives included anniversary festivals and food fairs to offset rising utility costs, the Asociación Federaense de Lucha contra el Cáncer (AFELC) recently held a fundraising dinner to support its social projects. AFELC provides services such as free mammograms, financial aid, and medical radio guidance, while also working on infrastructure improvements and preparing for a leadership assembly. Additionally, the ‘Un Globo para Patu’ Foundation is hosting its third Family Solidarity Marathon at Parque de la Democracia to raise funds for the Hemato-Oncology service at the Dr. Avelino Castelán Pediatric Hospital.

In Venezuela, FUNCAMAMA continues its efforts to fund care for over 40,000 people through initiatives such as the ‘A Tiempo’ charity walk. In Ecuador, the ‘Jóvenes Contra el Cáncer’ Foundation has announced the ‘4K Caminata de Esperanza’ (4K Walk of Hope) in Quito to collect funds for oncology patients who cannot afford necessary medications.
