One Piece franchise film and series announcements

Overview

During the One Piece Day 2026 event, creator Eiichiro Oda provided updates on the franchise’s future, including new film and television projects.

Toei Animation announced two theatrical films. ‘One Piece Film: God Valley’ is scheduled for a summer 2027 release to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the manga. It is expected to be the first fully canon movie, adapting the historical God Valley Incident involving characters like Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp. The second film, ‘One Piece Film: Baad’, is planned for 2029 to mark the 30th anniversary of the anime television series.

Expansion efforts also include new animation and live-action projects. WIT Studio is set to release a seven-episode remake titled ‘THE ONE PIECE’ on Netflix in February 2027, which will cover the first 50 chapters of the manga. Additionally, the live-action series is expected to return in 2027 with its third season, titled ‘The Battle of Alabasta’.

Regarding the manga, Oda indicated the series may continue for at least another four years, suggesting the narrative could extend into the 2030s. Although the series entered its ‘Final Saga’ in 2022 and is currently exploring the Elbaf arc, Oda noted there remains significant material to be explored before the conclusion.
