Overgeared anime premieres and franchise expands
Overview
The anime adaptation of the popular Webtoon ‘Overgeared’ premiered on Crunchyroll in early October 2026. Produced by J. C. Staff and REDICE STUDIO, the series follows the protagonist, Youngwoo Shin (known as Grid), a player struggling with poverty who undergoes a transformation after gaining a legendary blacksmith class within the virtual reality game ‘Satisfy’.
The franchise is expanding through a new MMORPG project by Nexon. A new video series titled ‘Overgeared: Overtalk’ has been released to detail the game’s development. This upcoming title aims to allow players to forge their own stories within a world that exists alongside the original narrative. While the original protagonist, Grid, is expected to appear as a supporting ally in the ‘Abyss’, players will serve as the primary protagonists of the game.
