Philippines pickleball expansion continues

Overview

By early August 2026 the Philippine Pickleball Federation reported 492 affiliated clubs, more than 46,400 registered players and 427 venues, including 86 dedicated courts in 29 malls across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Robinsons Land Corp and Kosmas Athletic Ventures are proceeding with the ₱1 billion Helios Pickleball Center – an eight‑story, climate‑controlled complex in Bridgetowne near Opus Mall, designed by Johns Design & Consulting and featuring 25 professional courts and a 2,000‑seat stadium. A temporary outdoor “Beta” site is slated to open in October 2026, with UPA Asia events scheduled from 2027.

RacketPro APAC’s Level 1 Coach Certification Tour ran in Manila, Cebu and Davao from late July to early August, delivering internationally recognised training to raise coaching standards nationwide.

The Maharlika Pilipinas Pickleball Tour (MPPT) officially launched its inaugural season, unveiling 12 founding franchises from cities and provinces such as General Santos, Tacloban, Batangas, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Rizal, Cavite, Camarines Norte, Pampanga, Bacoor, Bangued and Abra. Founder Manny Pacquiao highlighted the league’s goal of uniting communities and providing a national platform for Filipino players.

The league’s first matches are set for October 3‑4 2026 in Angeles, Pampanga, with additional legs in November and a championship round in December. The RPO APAC coach program certified more than 110 coaches across Manila, Cebu and Davao, using virtual learning, an online assessment and hands‑on workshops under technical director Collin Johns.

Regionally, the Association of Pickleball Players doubled its 2027 U.S. prize pool to $3 million and positioned the APP Asia Tour as a central growth driver, announcing a calendar of more than 50 events worldwide to expand professional opportunities for Asian athletes.
