Polish defense and specialized manufacturing expansion
Overview
Polish manufacturing capabilities in specialized packaging and defense logistics continue to evolve through strategic international partnerships. The firm Castelior recently introduced modular ammunition transport boxes at the Eurosatory 2026 exhibition, specifically designed for 120 mm tank shells and mortar rounds used in the Rak system.
Central to recent developments is the expanding role of the Czech-based CSG Group in bolstering European defense capabilities. CSG has solidified its presence in Poland through major contracts with Zakłady Metalowe Dezamet S.A., a subsidiary of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ). A contract exceeding 100 million euros was signed to supply pyrotechnic components and subassemblies for 155 mm artillery ammunition fuses, supporting the mass production of ammunition for systems such as the Krab self-propelled howitzer. Additionally, CSG secured orders exceeding 150 million euros from Huta Stalowa Wola SA (HSW) for the supply of chassis used in the production of Waran 4x4 and Heron 6x6 multi-purpose tactical vehicles.
To support this growth, CSG is implementing an extensive investment program at the Tatra Defence Vehicle (TDV) site in Kopřivnice, Czech Republic. The company plans to invest approximately 1.2 billion CZK (roughly EUR 49.7 million) over the next three years to expand production capacities for military land systems. This expansion includes adding 14,000 square meters of new production space for welding, machining, and painting, alongside a significant recruitment drive aiming to hire up to 400 new workers by 2027.
Globally, CSG continues to expand its military land systems business, securing over USD 50 million in orders for AM-70 and AM-50 series bridge-laying vehicles for customers across Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
