Porto Alegre hospitality and cultural developments
Overview
Porto Alegre continues to see developments in its hospitality, cultural, and gastronomic sectors.
In the hospitality industry, the Hilton Porto Alegre has completed a renovation of 175 rooms under the ‘Diamante de Moinhos de Vento’ theme. Designed by Lubianca Arquitetos in collaboration with Hilton’s international team, the aesthetic uses geometric facets and materials such as wood, terracotta, and blue tones. Additionally, ICH Hotels and developer CFL are preparing to open The Almer Porto Alegre in January 2027. This R$ 130 million luxury project on Avenida Nilo Peçanha will feature 84 apartments and suites following a ‘quiet luxury’ philosophy, including a spa and a rooftop with panoramic views.
Throughout October, the city is celebrating the 157th anniversary of the Mercado Público de Porto Alegre. Programming includes religious services, cultural attractions, food fairs, and sporting events like a half marathon. Specific festivities include a children’s book fair, a miniature fair, a mosaic fair, a special sales week, and Oktoberfest celebrations at Bar Essencial.
Local gastronomy continues to highlight German influences. In the historic center, Chalé da Praça XV has extended its German lunch service through the end of October, with scheduled editions on October 24 and 31. The buffet features traditional dishes such as Eisbein, sauerkraut, Spätzle with artisanal sausage ragu, Bockwurst, and Apfelstrudel, accompanied by live music to honor the German immigrant heritage of Rio Grande do Sul.
