Production and release of Nayyi Navelli film
Overview
Amazon MGM Studios and Colour Yellow produced the fantasy horror-comedy film, Nayyi Navelli, starring Yami Gautam Dhar. Directed by Balaji Mohan and produced by Aanand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma, the film features an ensemble cast including Addinath M Kothare and Anurag Thakur. A teaser released in September 2026 introduced a plot involving family dynamics where a brother-in-law accuses his sister-in-law of being a witch.
Following its October 16, 2026, release, the film recorded a worldwide gross box-office collection of ₹16.26 crore over its first three days. Daily gross collections rose from ₹4.60 crore on Day 1 to ₹5.96 crore on Day 3. The net collections for the opening weekend totaled ₹11.90 crore, with daily figures of ₹3.36 crore on Friday, ₹4 crore on Saturday, and ₹4.54 crore on Sunday. Analysts noted an upward trend, with a 19.04% increase on Saturday and a 13.50% increase on Sunday, though they observed the growth was limited.
By its fourth day, the film’s worldwide gross reached approximately ₹19.3 crore. During the festive Dussehra period, Nayyi Navelli has demonstrated steady performance, outperforming the courtroom drama ‘Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam’, which reported a net collection of roughly ₹11.15 crore.
Critical reception remains mixed. While some reviewers praised Yami Gautam Dhar’s performance and the film’s connection to the Ramayan, others criticized the screenplay, humor, and special effects, describing the film as “unconvincing” or “lacking emotional impact.”
