Queen Silvia of Sweden visit to Germany

Overview

Queen Silvia of Sweden is conducting a visit to Germany to engage in philanthropic activities and attend commemorative events.

In the Lake Constance region, the Queen marked the tenth anniversary of the Mentor-Stiftung, a foundation established in 2016 to empower youth through mentorship. Her itinerary in Konstanz included the premiere of the stage project ‘wir_jetzt_hier’ at the Bodenseeforum, a production involving students from the Geschwister-Scholl-Schule and the Lake Constance Philharmonic. At Mainau Island, she participated in a ceremony to present the first ‘Mentor-Zukunftspreis’ (Mentor Future Prize).

Following these engagements, the Queen traveled to Düsseldorf. She attended the inauguration of the new location of Luisen-Gymnasium, her former secondary school, alongside North Rhine-Westphalia's Minister for Schools and Education, Dorothee Feller, and Düsseldorf Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller. During the visit, she also made an entry into the city's Golden Book at the Düsseldorf City Hall.

In recognition of her decades of commitment to protecting children's rights and preventing violence and abuse, the Queen was honored with the ‘Düsseldorf Prize for Child Welfare 2026’. This work is largely conducted through the World Childhood Foundation, which she founded in 1999 and which has supported over 2,000 projects in 21 countries.
