Release of Kalanoro video game
Overview
The action-adventure game ‘Kalanoro’, developed by Madagascar-based Red Raketa Studio and co-published by New Tales, was initially showcased by SEGA at the Tokyo Game Show 2026. The game features a setting inspired by Malagasy folklore on the island of Lemuria, where players control the character Kalakely to defeat the witch Raneny.
Following its showcase, the title was released on September 24, 2026. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, with a free demo available on Steam. SEGA handles distribution across Asia.
Gameplay mechanics include a mix of combat using improvised weapons, such as frying pans, hair-based long-range attacks, platforming, and social elements involving the management of a band of lemur artists. Players must manage a band’s bus through mini-games, gain popularity among inhabitants, and recruit local musicians to progress through different biomes. The title features a colorful art style and a rhythmic soundtrack.
Red Raketa Studio’s development of the project began approximately six years ago. The studio was established in 2021 through a collaboration involving the artist Orelsan.
