Box office success of Trại Buôn Người

The Vietnamese survival action film ‘Trại Buôn Người’ (The Journey Of Heroes / Human Trafficking Camp) was scheduled for a nationwide release on September 25, 2026, following several delays intended to accommodate additional filming and visual effects work.

Directed by Toni Dương Bảo Anh and produced by Mèo Bích Trang, the production depicts a criminal network described as a ‘giant scamming machine’ where individuals fight for survival. Developed by Chói Entertainment over five years, the project involved three years of script development and two years of filming and post-production. The film features a massive scale, involving over 700 actors and a total crew and cast exceeding 10,000 people. It was recognized by the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) with a Vietnam Record Certificate for its scale and crew size.

Following initial screenings, the film has received positive early reviews, with viewers praising its intense action and large-scale production, despite some critical notes regarding predictable plot points and pacing. Notably, veteran artist NSND Như Quỳnh, aged over 70, joined the production to play a mother searching for her son.

Upon its official release on September 25, the film achieved significant commercial success, reaching 10 billion VND in revenue within just three hours of its early screening on September 24. It maintained its top position at the box office, with daily revenue and ticket sales reportedly exceeding four times the combined total of seven other domestic Vietnamese films. Within its first three days of release, the film earned 50 billion VND, marking one of the fastest climbs to that milestone in recent years. The film has garnered attention for its realistic portrayal of social issues and its T18 rating for mature content.
