Overview

In mid‑July 2026 the province of Río Negro created a Secretariat of Youth, headed by Milagros Calvo, to coordinate training, employment, innovation and civic participation programmes. By early August the audition process was concluded after four regional rounds in Pilcaniyeu, Valcheta, General Roca and Las Grutas. Around 140 young dancers took part, and a selection committee will announce the 30‑member roster in the coming weeks. Secretary of Culture Martín Fraile Milstein described the project as a cultural‑policy decision that looks to the territory and new generations, while dance coordinator Soraya Calderón highlighted the participants’ commitment and the ensemble’s role in preserving provincial identity. The Secretariat’s territorial agenda continues with outreach tours and a youth forum scheduled in Cipolletti for 15‑16 August.
