Samsung software service discontinuations
Overview
Samsung is terminating several digital services. On October 30, 2026, the company will shut down Daily+, an integrated hub for smart TVs, projectors, and monitors that provided centralized health, productivity, and smart home features. While the hub will be deactivated, individual applications previously hosted within the service will remain available via the standard TV app store. The shutdown of Daily+, which debuted at CES 2024, will remove the unified interface and personalized recommendations, leaving the future of specific integrations, such as Google Photos, unclear.
Additionally, Samsung plans to discontinue its Samsung News service on Galaxy smartphones and tablets on December 21, 2026. This shutdown will affect the dedicated app, its widget, and the news panel on the home screen. Discontinuation notices have already appeared within the app in India and South Korea. Following the discontinuation, Samsung intends to delete user profiles, preferences, and personal information, subject to local data retention regulations. Once the service is withdrawn, the home screen content panel will lose the option to toggle between Samsung News and Google Discover, though Google Discover is expected to remain available on supported models. Samsung has not officially named a replacement for the news service.
