San Luis Potosí Governor's infrastructure & security push

Entities: Ricardo Gallardo Cardona · San Luis Potosí · Omar García Harfuch · Mario García Valdez · Nadia Ochoa Limón

Overview

In late July, Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona reiterated progress on the San Luis–Matehuala highway, now 55 % complete, as part of an eight‑project corridor that together exceeds 250 million pesos and is slated to finish the link to Querétaro by the end of 2027. The broader 118.4‑km corridor, valued at over 20 billion pesos, is expected to cut travel times by up to 30 minutes, relieve congestion on Federal Highway 57 and boost logistics for the state’s industrial zone. New bridge works continue, including the Puente de la Familia and the upcoming Villa Magna bridge, while a near‑finished arena‑grade drainage system is set for inauguration.

On security, the governor confirmed four arrest warrants for suspects in the July 23 attack on State Civil Guard members in La Pila, one of whom has been captured, and reiterated his request for 400 additional federal security personnel to protect the state’s borders, coordinating with federal Secretary Omar García Harfuch.

Social assistance has been expanded, extending benefits to more than 110 000 families in the capital and 24 000 families in Villa de Pozos, with coordination across all 59 municipalities. Senator Ruth González Silva visited several colonias to hear concerns about water, drainage, roads and security, pledging to liaise with the state government on these issues.
