Santa Barbara municipal elections

The Santa Barbara municipal elections for mayor and city council have emerged as highly competitive contests. The mayoral race features six candidates, including current council members Eric Friedman and Kristen Sneddon, as well as Wendy Sims-Moten, Mark G. Redmond, David Matthew Kilrain, and Michael Stilwell.

Kristen Sneddon, speaking at the Santa Barbara County Democratic Party’s annual Labor Day picnic, called for a “blue wave” of Democratic support. While Sneddon holds the Democratic Party's endorsement, Eric Friedman has secured the endorsement of Representative Salud Carbajal. In the race for the City Council District 5 seat, which will be vacated by Friedman, Ian Baucke has emerged as a front-runner.
