Santa Fe security force recruitment
Overview
The government of Santa Fe is implementing various recruitment measures to bolster its provincial security plan and combat organized crime.
Initially, the province launched an initiative inviting retired police officers to rejoin the force to assist with custody duties and public space surveillance. Governor Maximiliano Pullaro noted that previous reincorporations of retired officers had contributed to the “recovery of public spaces and improved conditions for investment.” In a recent ceremony in Rosario, Pullaro recognized 88 retired officers who reincorporated in 2024, crediting them with improving provincial violence indicators.
Following these efforts, the Santa Fe Provincial Penitentiary Service incorporated 453 new agents after completing a six-month training program. These agents are designated for high-profile penitentiary units to support a security strategy that has reportedly added over 1,300 penitentiary places.
Building on these recruitment drives, a new initiative to reincorporate retired officers has seen 242 applicants apply within its first week. The primary incentive for these officers is a significant increase in income, reported to be double their current retirement pensions. The applicants have an average age of 55, though a notable group is between 40 and 49 years old due to previous pension reforms. The registration process remains open until the end of the month. Following the deadline, the Ministry of Justice and Security will evaluate service records to determine assignments for custody duties in public spaces within Santa Fe and Rosario.
