Search for missing camper in Adirondack Mountains

Overview

Authorities in the Adirondack Mountains are conducting a multi-agency search for Craig Streeter, a 73-year-old man from Mahopac. The search began after his recreational vehicle was found unattended at campsite 36 off Moose River Road in the town of Inlet.

Streeter was last seen on August 2 at a Stewart’s Shop in Indian Lake wearing jeans and a dark long-sleeved shirt. While police noted that Streeter frequently travels to remote areas and often goes out of contact for periods of time, concern has grown as he has now been missing for more than three weeks. New York State Police have stated there are no signs of foul play.

Since the search officially began on August 17, the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and Forest Rangers have joined dozens of personnel from various agencies. According to the DEC, first responders have covered more than 728 linear miles and 2,514 acres in their efforts to locate him.
