SMSEM administrative and recognition initiatives

Overview

The Teachers Union of the State of Mexico (SMSEM) has initiated several administrative and recognition programs for its members.

In mid-August, the union launched a regional tour across 14 locations to facilitate the update or processing of the ‘Carta Testamentaria’ (Beneficiary Designation Letter). This initiative, directed by General Secretary Jenaro Martínez Reyes, allows affiliated teachers to designate beneficiaries for the Retirement and Death Fund to provide legal certainty for their families.

Following this, the union opened applications in late August for the ‘Joven Promesa Sindical 2026’ award. This recognition targets affiliated teaching public servants up to 35 years of age who have demonstrated excellence in professional, academic, cultural, or union-political fields. Two recipients are scheduled to be honored during the SMSEM anniversary ceremony in October.
