São Paulo cultural sector support initiatives

The State Government of São Paulo is implementing various initiatives to support the regional creative economy and cultural sector through funding and professional development.

Initial efforts included the extension of application deadlines for the Programa de Ação Cultural (ProAC) under the Fomento CultSP package, which allocates R$ 90 million toward diverse fields such as audiovisual production, literature, and architecture. To further support the sector, the São Paulo Secretariat of Culture, Economy, and Creative Industries has launched training initiatives via the CultSP Pro platform. The curriculum covers areas such as game narrative, audiovisual production, and cultural entrepreneurship.

A subsequent update regarding the CULTSP PRO program, managed by the Institute for Development and Management (IDG), announced a new round of 922 free training spots across 53 different courses. This phase includes 847 in-person positions distributed across 18 cities—covering the capital, metropolitan areas, the interior, and the coast—and 75 online spots. Course subjects have expanded to include scenography, analog photography, museum management, and sustainable fashion. Applications for this round are scheduled to run from September 9 to September 21. Participants must be at least 16 years old, and those who maintain at least 75% attendance and pass evaluations will receive a digital certificate.
