São Paulo municipal employment and training initiatives

Overview

The City of São Paulo and the São Paulo Social Fund (FUSSP) have introduced various programs aimed at employment, social support, and professional qualification.

Initial municipal announcements included the ‘Mãos e Mentes Paulistanas’ program, providing 15 vacancies for artisans to participate in the Festival da Agricultura Paulistana. The event is scheduled for November 14 across the South, East, and North regions of the city, with applications due by October 11.

Simultaneously, the ‘Programa Operação Trabalho – POT Mães Guardiãs’ offered 570 vacancies for unemployed mothers and women from the school community to work in municipal schools. Eligible applicants must have resided in the capital for at least two years. Selected participants receive a monthly allowance of R$ 1,702.05 for a 30-hour work week to support food security and student retention, with applications open until October 13 via the Portal Cate.

Following these announcements, the FUSSP launched the 31st cycle of the ‘Caminho da Capacitação’ program. This initiative provides free professional training through November 6, utilizing mobile classroom trailers across 17 municipalities in the Greater São Paulo area. The curriculum, tailored to regional economic demands, covers sectors such as gastronomy, technology, beauty, fashion, elderly care, and automotive repair. While the program offers various shifts to accommodate students, remaining vacancies have been reported in Embu-Guaçu, Guarulhos, Itapecerica da Serra, Salesópolis, Santo André, and São Bernardo do Campo. Priority is given to individuals in social vulnerability, including the unemployed, female heads of household, and those registered in CadÚnico.
