Spotify global audiobook service expansion
Overview
Spotify is executing a global rollout of its audiobook services to more than 180 markets. In Colombia, eligible Premium subscribers receive 12 hours of monthly listening time, with access to a catalog of over 350,000 titles in more than 120 languages, including works by local authors such as Gabriel García Márquez.
On October 15, the service officially launched in Brazil. Brazilian Premium subscribers are granted a 12-hour monthly quota and access to a catalog featuring approximately 6,000 Brazilian works alongside international titles translated into Portuguese. The local selection includes authors such as Clarice Lispector, Machado de Assis, Jorge Amado, and Paulo Coelho, while international offerings include the Harry Potter saga and ‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’.
The Brazilian launch introduced ‘Page Match’, a feature allowing users to synchronize progress between audio, e-book, and print formats by scanning a book’s ISBN barcode. While the service previously lacked immediate options for additional purchases, the company expects the ability to purchase specific titles separately to become available in the Brazilian market soon. Spotify aims to complete its expansion to 180 markets by the end of 2026.
