Taiwan tea culture and agricultural promotion

Overview

Taiwan continues its efforts to promote tea culture and agricultural products through large-scale events and international outreach. As part of the Nantou Sustainable Tourism (NSTC) initiative, Nantou County is working with the Tourism Administration to participate in Tourism EXPO Japan 2026. This effort aims to attract Japanese tourists by focusing on forest ecology, tea culture, and deep travel experiences.

The 16th Nantou World Tea Expo is scheduled to run from October 3 to 11 at Zhongxing New Village. The event features 35 themed pavilions, over 200 exhibition stalls, and showcases of international tea cultures from regions such as Persia, Japan, India, and Tibet. The expo emphasizes smart agriculture, low-carbon production, and local industry integration through activities like large-scale tea ceremonies and five distinct tea-country excursion routes.

Following the expo's commencement, the Nantou Hakka Industry Pavilion has opened, presenting Hakka cultural performances, local crafts, and food to highlight the region's Hakka history. To manage visitor traffic and limited parking at the venue, the Zhongxing Police Precinct has implemented guidance measures, recommending the use of designated shuttle buses operating from the County Baseball Stadium to various locations, including Children's Park.
