The Beatles Rubber Soul album reissue

Overview

Apple Corps Ltd and Universal Music Group released an expanded Special Edition of The Beatles’ 1965 album, ‘Rubber Soul’, on October 2, 2026, to mark the album's 60th anniversary.

Produced by Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell using the original four-track master tapes, the reissue features new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes. The stereo mix was created using advanced demixing technology developed by Emile de la Rey at Peter Jackson’s WingNut Films. This AI-driven software allowed engineers to separate the original tapes, increasing clarity for vocals, guitars, and percussion while maintaining the recordings' original warmth. The vinyl edition specifically utilizes half-speed mastering to preserve frequency details.

The collection includes the original mono mix and the US Capitol version, providing a historical comparison between the UK and US versions. Archival material includes session recordings and home demos for ‘Michelle’, ‘In My Life’, and ‘I’m Looking Through You’, as well as a second version of ‘I’m Looking Through You’ from the November 1965 sessions.

Super Deluxe editions contain 24 early session recordings, including 20 previously unreleased takes and three home demos, such as the previously unheard John Lennon song ‘Little Girl’. A ‘Special Edition Super Deluxe’ box set features five 180g vinyl LPs and an additional 7-inch single, totaling 68 songs. Physical formats range from single CDs and LPs to multi-disc Super Deluxe sets and Blu-ray editions.

Following the release, the ‘Rubber Soul (Special Edition)’ achieved commercial success in Italy. According to the FIMI music charts, the reissue debuted at number one in Italy for CDs, vinyl, and cassettes, while also entering the general album chart at seventh place.
