TİGEM Arabian racehorse foal auctions

Overview

The General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM) has conducted successive auctions for purebred Arabian racehorse foals in Turkey.

In August 2026, an auction in the Karacabey district of Bursa generated 27.55 million lira. Of the 34 foals offered from the Anadolu and Sultansuyu agricultural enterprises, 30 were sold, with an average price of approximately 918,000 lira. The highest individual sale was a foal named ‘Bilge Çınar’, which sold for 3.6 million lira.

On September 22, 2026, TİGEM held its first elite foal auction of the year at the Veliefendi Racecourse in Istanbul. Using a hybrid model of physical and online participation via the E-Tay Sales Platform, 13 of 15 elite Arabian foals from the Sultansuyu Agricultural Enterprise were sold for a total of 51.6 million TL. This set a record average sale price of approximately 3.969 million TL per horse. The highest individual sale was ‘Ağa Fahri’ at 8.75 million TL.

In the final auction of the year at Veliefendi Racecourse, 12 of 15 elite foals were sold, generating 46.85 million TL. The highest-selling foal in this session, ‘Akifcan’, was sold for 7 million TL via an online bid.

TİGEM General Manager Hasan Gezginç reported that the institution sold a total of 323 foals throughout the year, generating 336.77 million lira in total revenue. He noted that the organization supports the breeding sector by providing nearly 400 racing and elite foals annually.
