Tocantins political campaign policy proposals

Laurez Moreira, the Vice-Governor and candidate for the government of Tocantins, has introduced several policy platforms addressing social and public health issues in the state.

Regarding public safety, Moreira highlighted a significant rise in femicide cases, noting a 52.8% increase in 2025 compared to 2024. In response, Moreira proposed preventive measures including educational campaigns, school-based gender-violence programs, and teacher training to identify domestic abuse. Other political figures in the region have also proposed measures such as barring men indicted for domestic violence from senior government posts and expanding specialized assistance for women.

In the healthcare sector, Moreira met with the Tocantins State Health Workers Union (Sintras-TO) to discuss prioritizing public health and civil servant valorization. His platform includes the construction of four Regionalized State Polyclinics to decentralize care across the Bico do Papagaio, Médio Norte Araguaia, Sudeste, and Ilha do Bananal regions. He also proposes creating three new Medical Specialty Outpatient Clinics (AMEs) focused on high-risk obstetric care in the Bico do Papagaio, Sudeste, and Ilha do Bananal regions, alongside strengthening Primary Health Care within the Unified Health System (SUS).

Expanding on these infrastructure plans, Moreira announced a proposal for a medium-complexity regional hospital in Colinas do Tocantins. The facility would include approximately 115 beds, a 24-hour emergency room, surgical and obstetric centers, intensive care units, and diagnostic imaging, aiming to reduce the burden on the Araguaína hospital network. Furthermore, Moreira has advocated for data-driven public management, proposing a strategic planning model for federal agencies that utilizes performance indicators and continuous monitoring to ensure efficient resource allocation.
