Tourist crimes in Pattaya, Thailand

Pattaya police are investigating several incidents of theft and assault targeting foreign tourists in Thailand.

In mid-September, violent robberies were reported involving motorcycle-borne assailants. A British man was threatened with a sharp weapon near Jomtien Beach, resulting in physical injuries, while a Russian national was assaulted and robbed of cash and documents in Soi 9 Thappraya.

On September 10, a 33-year-old South Korean tourist, Yeonho Lim, reported the theft of 25,000 baht from his room at the Aster Hotel and Residence. Lim stated he had met an unidentified Thai woman at a Walking Street venue and invited her to his room; he discovered the cash missing from his bag the following morning. Police Lieutenant Phupha Yongyakul confirmed that officers are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the woman and any potential accomplices.

On September 13, five Indian tourists reported being assaulted and robbed at a hotel in North Pattaya. The group alleged that after meeting several Thai individuals near Pattaya Beach, additional people entered their hotel room, leading to a physical attack and threats. The victims reported that approximately 24,000 baht was stolen during the confrontation. Pattaya City Police have launched a formal investigation and are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the suspects.
