On August 13, a 50-year-old woman suffered a serious arm fracture after being caught in the strong air current of a plane preparing for takeoff. She was treated at the Skiathos Health Center.

The incidents have highlighted safety concerns regarding the airport’s layout. The runway is situated in close proximity to public roads and beaches, such as Xysta, making it a popular location for plane spotters to observe aircraft at low altitudes. Reports indicate that spectators often stand behind a low perimeter wall despite warning signs prohibiting the practice.
