Trackhouse MotoGP team rider developments

Overview

The Trackhouse MotoGP team has secured its rider lineup for the upcoming seasons through two significant contract announcements.

In early August, the team announced a two-year extension for Spanish rider Raul Fernandez, securing him for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. Team owner Justin Marks noted that Fernandez has “grown as a rider, both on the bike and in preparation, approach and maturity,” expressing confidence that the pair can become a consistent championship threat.

Following this, the team confirmed that Italian rider Enea Bastianini will join Trackhouse on a two-season contract to ride Aprilia machinery. Bastianini, arriving from Tech3 KTM, is set to replace Ai Ogura, who is moving to the Yamaha factory team. Bastianini will partner with Fernandez as the team prepares for new MotoGP regulations and engine displacements.

Bastianini, a former Moto2 World Champion and six-time MotoGP race winner, aims to use his experience to assist in the development of the new Aprilia RS-GP. Trackhouse owner Justin Marks noted that Bastianini’s racing pedigree and experience at the highest level make him a “perfect fit” for the team’s ambitious goals. This transition coincides with a major technical shift in the sport, as the 2027 season will introduce new 850cc engine regulations, reduced aerodynamics, and a change in tire suppliers to Pirelli.

Bastianini has since confirmed the move was finalized following the expiration of a contractual option held by KTM on July 1. He cited the increasing competitiveness of the Aprilia RS-GP, which he noted has risen to rival Ducati, and a lack of affinity with KTM machinery as primary reasons for the transfer. He expressed enthusiasm for the Trackhouse team structure and the potential he perceived in the Aprilia during winter testing.
