Turkey basketball club coaching and roster updates

In late July 2026, Karşıyaka Basket announced the appointment of 58‑year‑old Nenad Marković as its new head coach, highlighting his previous spell with the club in 2016‑17 and his extensive European coaching résumé. Marković’s career includes stints at KK Bosna, Panionios, and leading Trabzonspor to the EuroChallenge final in 2015, as well as winning the FIBA Intercontinental Cup with Tenerife in 2017.

A few days later, the club confirmed the coaching hire while also revealing a broader restructuring. Karşıyaka reinstated Çağlar Karabulut as general manager, outlined a transfer strategy focused on local talent, and addressed a pending transfer ban by negotiating debt repayments. The club also planned a meeting with FIBA officials in Geneva to secure clearance for upcoming signings. Concurrently, other Turkish clubs, such as women's side Konya Basket, secured sponsorship deals, underscoring a period of administrative and financial activity across Turkish basketball.

By mid-August, Karşıyaka continued its roster updates by officially signing 33-year-old guard Briante Weber, a former NBA and EuroLeague player noted for his defensive capabilities. This move follows the club’s broader efforts to shape a competitive roster and strengthen its playing identity for the upcoming season.

Other Turkish clubs are also advancing pre-season preparations. Denizli Basket has bolstered its frontcourt by signing 26-year-old Serbian forward Marko Pecarski. Additionally, Mersin Spor Kulübü is preparing for the 2026-2027 Turkish Basketball League season under head coach Burak Gören, conducting high-intensity training sessions to build physical endurance with the goal of securing a championship and returning to the Super League.
