Turkish charitable marriage support programs

Overview

Following the July 2026 launch of the Turkey Diyanet Foundation’s “Two People One Life” initiative, the program continued to award 500,000‑lira dowry packages to couples across the country. On 29 July, Ali Demir and Ratibe Nur Zenger were married in Tavşanlı, Kütahya, after the foundation received more than 42,000 applications nationwide. In Mersin’s Mezitli district, volunteers prepared a dowry set for 21‑year‑old Elif Ceren and her fiancé Çağrı Alparslan Bulut, with local muftis presenting a Turkish flag and Quran. The project’s first regional implementation took place on 7 August in Adıyaman, where Gizem Akgün and Mehmet Emin Çetin were married in the provincial mufti’s office, marking the inaugural on‑the‑ground support for young families there.

Meanwhile, the Mehir Charity Foundation held a ceremony in Konya on 5 August, attended by provincial mufti Prof. Dr. Ali Öge and foundation chair Mustafa Özdemir, to dispatch trucks carrying roughly 80‑90 million lira worth of wedding supplies (about 70 goods, 30 000 pieces) to engaged couples in Syria. Officials linked the aid to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s 2026‑2035 “Family and Population Decade,” underscoring Turkey’s domestic and cross‑border efforts to promote family formation.
