Turkish commodity exchange leadership elections

Overview

As of early October 2026, regional leadership elections for Turkish commodity exchanges and chambers of commerce have concluded, characterized by several incumbents retaining power alongside new leadership emerging in specific districts. In Adıyaman, Mehmet Torunoğlu’s team achieved a clean sweep, winning all 18 professional groups and all 51 assembly seats at the ATSO. In Van, Nayif Süer was re-elected as President of the Van Commodity Exchange, while Recep Bağlamış maintained his presidency at the Kayseri Commodity Exchange. In Malatya, Ramazan Özcan secured a third term, focusing on agriculture and livestock. New leadership and committee victories were noted in other regions: Özen Akgün was elected as the new president of the Nazilli Chamber of Commerce, defeating incumbent Nuri Arslan, and Celal Gümüş was elected president of the Didim Chamber of Commerce. In Bodrum, Orhan Dinç was re-elected as head of the Maritime Chamber, securing all 166 votes cast, while Erdem Ağan’s ‘Blue Team’ won all 11 committees at the Bodrum Chamber of Commerce. Recent election results include the re-election of Sadık Özkasap as President of the Manisa Commodity Exchange, where he defeated challenger Rıza Seyyar with 93 votes, and the re-election of İbrahim Salaş as President of the Nevşehir Commodity Exchange with 90 votes. On October 8, Selim Yılmaz officially assumed the role of Chairman of the Çarşamba Commodity Exchange (ÇTB) following elections held on October 1. During a formal handover ceremony, outgoing Chairman Kazım Yılmaz presented the official seal to Yılmaz. The new administration, which includes Vice Chairmen Abdülkerim Pala and Musa Taşan, intends to focus on enhancing the economic strength of the region, specifically aiming to ‘add more value to the hazelnut sector’.
