During the ceremony, Rector Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas emphasized that “academic autonomy, public higher education, and collegiate government remain essential pillars for expanding knowledge and serving society.” He called on the community to protect these freedoms. The event, attended by UNAM General Secretary Javier de la Fuente Hernández and federal representative Rosaura Ruiz Gutiérrez, marked the anniversary of the Royal Decree of 1551 that established the institution’s predecessor.
