Upcoming film releases for Suriya and Dhanush

Overview

Actor Suriya is preparing for several film releases, including ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ and ‘Scene’. ‘Vishwanath and Sons’, a family comedy-drama directed by Venky Atluri, follows Sanjay Vishwanath, a former international pistol shooting champion attempting a comeback. The film is scheduled for release on August 14, 2026.

Suriya’s film ‘Scene’, directed by Jithu Madhavan, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 6, 2026, as a Diwali special. Described as a crime thriller that incorporates the director’s signature sense of humor, the film features Suriya as a police officer, DSP Inbaraj. The cast includes Nazriya Nazim, Naslen, Anandraj, Lal, and Raj Priyan. Naslen portrays Eswaran, a character described as a serial killer who uses social media to showcase his crimes.

Despite recent fan concerns regarding post-production delays and promotional efforts, a major promotional tour is planned for late October and early November across Chennai, Dubai, Hyderabad, and Kochi. During a Dubai event on October 25, Suriya noted that while the film draws parallels to his previous police roles in ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ and ‘Singam’, his character, Inbaraj, is incomparable to those roles.

‘Scene’ follows a successful year for Suriya; his 2026 releases ‘Karuppu’ and ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ reportedly earned over 300 crore and 200 crore respectively at the global box office. Industry observers are monitoring if ‘Scene’ can exceed 200 crore to grant him three such successes in one year.

In addition to Suriya’s projects, the film ‘Om’, starring Dhanush and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, is set for a November release, approximately two weeks after ‘Scene’. ‘Om’ features a cast including Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela, Naseeruddin Shah, and Indrans.
