Urban and community development in Reus

The city of Reus has initiated several municipal projects focused on community welfare and urban infrastructure. In August 2026, the Reus City Council reported progress on the ‘Xarxa als Barris’ project, a community initiative designed to support the emotional and social well-being of youth aged 3 to 20. Launched on March 1 in collaboration with the Fundació Educativa i Social (FES), the project has reached approximately eighty young people through twelve activities, including dance, theater, and cooperative games.

Infrastructure and mobility updates continue to expand. Reus Mobilitat i Serveis announced a road repair project costing approximately 462,987 euros to address asphalt damage on eight streets, including Pintor Tapiró, Passeig Nord, and Mas de l’Abelló. This work involves applying a new 5-centimeter asphalt layer and repainting signage.

To further enhance pedestrian safety, construction has begun on a new crossing on Salou Avenue at the intersection with Agricultura Street. Additionally, the city has commissioned four further improvements: new crossings on Sant Bernat Calbó Avenue, Onze de Setembre Avenue, and President Macià Avenue—three of which originated from citizen proposals via participatory budgeting—as well as a crossing on Bellissens Avenue to benefit Hospital Sant Joan staff and visitors.

Previous mobility enhancements also include the implementation of automatic bollards and license plate readers in the Pallol and Doctor Robert areas, alongside the expansion of the ‘A l’insti en bus’ service for over 8,400 secondary students.
