This disruption, alongside Houthi activity on the Red Sea coast, has fueled fears that elevated energy costs may keep inflation high, prompting central banks to maintain restrictive borrowing costs.

Structurally, the market is entering its sixth consecutive year of projected deficit. Data from the Silver Institute and Metals Focus suggests a shortfall of approximately 46.3 million ounces for 2026, while mine production is expected to remain nearly stagnant at around 844.1 million ounces. Because 74% of silver is produced as a byproduct of lead, zinc, copper, or gold mining, supply remains slow to respond to price fluctuations. Additionally, the gold-silver ratio remains above its long-term equilibrium of 60:1, suggesting potential catch-up capacity for silver as industrial demand from solar, electric vehicles, and AI data centers continues to grow.
