2026 silver price outlook mixed, new $135 target
Overview
Silver has remained well below its early‑2026 peak, with the spot price sitting near $59 per ounce – about 52 % under the $121.78 high recorded in January. Technical analysis still points to $65 as resistance and $55‑57 as support. UBS reaffirmed a short‑term dip, lowering its entry range to $48‑$50 per ounce because of weak investor demand, a stronger U.S. dollar and restrictive Federal Reserve policy, but it continues to expect a favourable medium‑ and long‑term trend and a possible Fed rate cut no earlier than December 2026.
Bank of America lifted its 2026 price target to $135 per ounce, citing a persistent structural supply deficit of roughly 46 million ounces and soaring solar‑industry demand – about 151 million ounces of silver are projected for 2026. The metal’s role is shifting from safe‑haven status to a critical input for photovoltaics, EV batteries and AI‑related semiconductors. JPMorgan’s own 2026 average view stays at $81 per ounce, while Wall Street forecasts year‑end prices in the $70‑$80 range.
End‑of‑quarter figures from Endeavour Silver showed production of 1.94 million ounces of silver and 10.500 ounces of gold from its Mexican and Peruvian mines, underscoring that roughly 70 % of global silver remains a by‑product of other metal mining. Broader macro factors, including Middle‑East geopolitical tension and a strengthening dollar, continue to shape price dynamics.
The structural deficit and expanding renewable‑energy demand keep price sensitivity high, supporting a generally bullish outlook despite near‑term weakness.
