Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Esmayl Baghaei asserted that Middle Eastern nations can no longer rely on United States security guarantees, arguing that American involvement has contributed to regional insecurity rather than stability.

Baghaei pointed to Israeli military actions in Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria as evidence of this instability and noted that regional actors are increasingly seeking internal security through cooperation rather than dependence on external powers.

This perspective is supported by an analysis in Foreign Affairs, which suggests the era of United States dominance in the region is ending. The report argues that the regional order established in 1991 has been undermined by conflicts involving the US, Israel, and Iran. It cites the perceived failure of the US to protect Persian Gulf allies and the inability to achieve regime change in Iran as factors weakening the justifications for maintaining American military bases. Additionally, the report notes that Israel’s aggressive stance has disrupted US efforts to build security partnerships between Arab allies and Israel.
