Vingroup environmental and green transition initiatives

Overview

Vingroup has initiated several environmental and sustainability programs in Vietnam. In early September 2026, the Green Future Fund launched the ‘Acting Together for a Blue Sky 2026’ campaign in Hanoi, focusing on air pollution through policy dialogue, scientific research, and community actions. Following this, Vingroup introduced the second phase of its ‘For a Green Future’ program to encourage the transition to electric vehicles (EVs). Running from September 19 to December 19, 2026, the ‘trade gasoline for electricity’ policy offers customers switching from gasoline vehicles to VinFast electric cars discounts between 3% and 9% depending on the model. For instance, the VF 5, VF 6, and older VF 8 models qualify for a 9% discount. Additionally, electric car buyers can access free charging at V-Green stations until February 10, 2029, while electric motorcycle buyers may receive discounts of 1.5 to 6 million VND and up to 20 free battery swaps per month through June 2028. The initiative also targets transport service providers via the Green SM platform. Drivers who buy or lease VinFast EVs and operate exclusively on the platform can retain 100% of their revenue for the first two years, as platform fees are charged to the customer rather than deducted from driver earnings. New Green SM Bike drivers are promised guaranteed income for their first two months, with rental options available for models such as the Evo in major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. From the third year, Green SM commits to a commission rate that is 50% lower than the market average, returning to market standards in the fourth and fifth years. In October 2026, Vingroup expanded its focus to the automotive supply chain through the ‘2026 Localization and Supplier System Development Conference.’
