Violent crime incidents in Eskişehir

Eskişehir has seen various violent incidents and legal proceedings involving stabbings and shootings.

In one case, a court heard witness testimony regarding a May 2025 incident where a delivery courier was allegedly stabbed multiple times by a pedestrian following a dispute over a motorcycle collision. The trial has been adjourned to address remaining gaps in the case file.

In separate recent developments, the Odunpazarı district reported a fatal shotgun shooting resulting in the arrest of a 21-year-old suspect, as well as a fatal stabbing that triggered a KADES alert. Additionally, authorities are investigating multiple suspicious deaths, including a hotel owner found lifeless in his establishment and a death in the Tepebaşı district classified as suspicious by municipal doctors.

Further details have emerged regarding the fatal shotgun shooting in Odunpazarı. Following an argument on Yunus Emre Avenue, 21-year-old Abdülkadir Çelik allegedly chased 24-year-old Muratcan Altun through the street before fatally shooting him in the chest with a pump-action shotgun. Bystander footage reportedly captured the pursuit. Although Çelik initially claimed to have discarded the weapon, police recovered the shotgun inside his residence. Upon his arrest, Çelik reportedly told the press, “He deserved it, brother, it was necessary,” and “You give people what they deserve.”

Law enforcement has processed seven suspects in connection with the incident; Çelik has been arrested on charges of intentional murder, while six others were released under judicial control. A judicial investigation into the homicide is ongoing.
