Vishay automotive electronics portfolio expansion

Overview

Vishay Intertechnology has expanded its automotive-grade electronics portfolio by introducing four new surface-mount common mode chokes: the ICM5050-A, ICM6050-A, IFLN-1210BE-A, and IFLN-1812CZ-A.

These AEC-Q200 qualified components are designed to manage electromagnetic interference (EMI) and improve system efficiency in various vehicle applications, including DC/DC power supplies, LCD displays, lighting drivers, and in-vehicle Ethernet networks. The new devices are capable of high-temperature operation up to 150 °C.

Technical specifications highlight that these components offer low direct current resistance (DCR), ranging from 0.4 mΩ to 12 mΩ, which is significantly lower than the standard 23 mΩ found in typical toroidal chokes. This reduction is intended to minimize power loss as heat. Furthermore, the compact footprints of these devices allow them to replace larger components to save circuit board space.

Building on this expansion, Vishay has introduced additional high-frequency and high-current components. This includes the Vishay Sfernice CHEP series of thin film chip resistors in 0402 and 0603 case sizes. Built on an aluminum nitride substrate, these resistors are designed for high-frequency performance up to 40 GHz, targeting 5G and 6G networks, LEO satellites, and aerospace defense systems.

Furthermore, the company launched two new common mode chokes, the Vishay Dale ICMS2321-10 and the automotive-grade ICMS2321-1A. The automotive-grade version is AEC-Q200 qualified and engineered for high-current applications up to 30 amps, suitable for onboard vehicle chargers, motor controls, and high-voltage inverters.
