Volvo Trucks electric truck expansion

In July 2026 Volvo Trucks continued to promote its battery‑electric heavy‑duty models through both virtual and real‑world channels. On 12 July the firm partnered with the simulation game *American Truck Simulator*, adding the VNR Electric and the newly introduced VNL Electric, letting players experience charging and handling of North‑American heavy‑duty electric trucks. The company noted that more than 750 VNR units were already on U.S. roads, accumulating over 30 million miles.

Two weeks later, on 24 July, Volvo reported that its South African electric‑truck fleet had logged more than 250,000 km of commercial operation, underscoring the reliability of the extra‑heavy models launched in 2023. At the Truckstar Festival in Assen, Netherlands, it displayed an electric FH Aero and a conventional FH16 Swedish Metal Edition, highlighting the FH Aero’s 700‑km range.

On 27 July Volvo announced that series production of the FH Aero Electric will begin in September at its Sweden and Belgium plants. Orders opened in June, and the trucks have been tested in extreme northern, hot southern and real‑world customer conditions to verify performance for long‑distance freight. The vehicle targets roughly 700 km of range with an additional 100 kWh battery, and rapid‑charging capability is being positioned as a key step toward replacing diesel trucks on longer routes.
