Overview

While the fire threatened homes and occurred during a period of high fire risk with temperatures reaching 42°C, the active front was eventually brought under control. Crews remained on site to manage residual smoke and prevent reignition.

In the aftermath of the blaze in the Ryakia area near Lychna, local reports highlighted a firefighter providing water to a hedgehog found in the parched landscape. The Arson Investigation Unit of Lesvos has been mobilized to investigate the cause of the fire.
