Announced by Goya winner Miriam Garlo, the selection includes ‘La bola negra’, which holds momentum from a Best Director win at Cannes and explores the unfinished works of Federico García Lorca. ‘El ser querido’ stars Javier Bardem and Victoria Luengo, while ‘Los domingos’ is noted for previously winning the Concha de Oro in San Sebastián. The final Spanish representative, which will succeed ‘Sirat’, will be determined by an Academy member vote and announced on September 16.

In the Philippines, the Film Academy of the Philippines has previously shortlisted eight contenders, including ‘58th’ and ‘Sisa’, with a final official entry expected from the National Selection Committee on September 4.
