Overview

Alpine endurance and competitive sports activities continue to be highlighted across Italy and Austria. In Austria, Italian athletes have participated in high-level competitions, including 22 members of the Italian youth national climbing team competing in the World Climbing Europe Youth Series in Imst. Notable climbers include Gianluca Vighetti, Giovanni Bagnoli, and Margherita Pernigotti. Additionally, Italian triathletes Biagio Puzzolante, Michele Lecce, and Giovanni Placentino completed the IRONMAN 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun, which featured a swim in Lake Zell and a cycling course through Alpine terrain.

In Italy, extreme endurance events are underway. In the Tor des Glaciers (TOR450), Franco Collé has established a solo lead. The Tor des Géants (TOR330) in Courmayeur has also commenced, with Jiaju Zhao and Katharina Hartmuth leading the men’s and women’s categories respectively in the 330 km race.

Other recent Italian results include victories by Diego Zanardo and Rebeka Petrovcic in the Three Lakes Trail, and Sasha Starker in the Primiero MTB Marathon Master. The TUTTO BENE Hillclimb also featured 85 high-performance vehicles on the Mottarone. Looking forward, the “Corsa Sentiero del Sole” is scheduled for October 10 in Valle Aurina.
