Automaker model launches in Argentina

In July 2026, two automakers expanded Argentina's compact SUV market with new model introductions. Chevrolet unveiled the Onix Activ, a crossover‑styled variant of its compact hatchback, at the Rural Expo in Buenos Aires. Imported from Brazil, the vehicle is priced at 35,043,900 Argentine pesos and features a 1.0‑litre turbocharged engine, higher ground clearance and SUV‑inspired styling aimed at budget‑conscious buyers.

A week later, Chinese manufacturer Geely announced the Argentine debut of the Geely Icon, a compact SUV previously sold only in Asia. The launch, scheduled for mid‑August, will see 200 units offered through 19 dealerships at a price of US$30,800. The Icon is equipped with a 1.5‑litre turbocharged engine, a seven‑speed dual‑clutch transmission and a suite of driver‑assistance features, targeting the growing demand for affordable, technology‑rich SUVs.

Both launches underscore a trend toward expanding entry‑level SUV options in Argentina, with manufacturers leveraging imported production or new shipments to meet local market growth.
