Aviation industry service and promotion updates
Overview
JetBlue has introduced BlueFirst, a new domestic first-class service designed for routes where its lie-flat Mint business class is unavailable. The service is scheduled to debut on December 8, 2026, with a flight from Boston to Fort Lauderdale, followed by expansion to LaGuardia and eventually markets in Latin America and the Caribbean.
BlueFirst features include up to seven inches of additional legroom, a five-inch recline, Bluetooth-connected seatback screens, and enhanced food and beverage options, including a ‘Mixologist Mode’ for seat-side cocktail customization. For flights of 899 miles or more, the service includes a meal box consisting of a main course, side dish, and dessert. The service offers tiered fare options—Base, Flex, and a premium option—providing varying levels of baggage allowance and flexibility.
In conjunction with the product launch, JetBlue is updating its TrueBlue loyalty program for 2027. Starting in February, Mosaic elite status members will be eligible for complimentary, space-available upgrades to BlueFirst, and JetBlue Premier Cardmembers will qualify for upgrades on certain tickets. The airline is also expanding its Premium Upgrade Certificates to allow redemption for either Mint or BlueFirst seating and updating its Perks You Pick program to offer more flexible reward selections.
Expansion into the Caribbean is slated to begin on February 11, 2027, with service on select flights between Fort Lauderdale and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Separately, SAS announced an award sale offering a 20% discount on all award bookings made by 18 October for travel through 31 March 2027.
