Bhansali's 'Love & War' film rollout

Overview

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has concluded principal photography for the period romantic war drama ‘Love & War’. Following the completion of filming, a three-day campaign unveiled first-look posters for the lead cast: Alia Bhatt in a red and black cabaret ensemble, Ranbir Kapoor in a rugged vintage style with a blood-stained arm, and Vicky Kaushal in two contrasting personas—one intense and scarred, the other appearing softer while seated in water with flowers.

Set against a 1960s backdrop, the film is expected to be one of Bhansali’s most expensive productions. While the plot remains guarded, reports suggest the characters may be connected to the Indian Air Force. The project also marks a significant reunion between Bhansali and Ranbir Kapoor after two decades.

In a major industry development, the global theatrical rights for the film have been acquired by distributor Pen Marudhar for Rs. 300 crores. This acquisition follows an intense bidding war involving major players such as Dharma Productions, Jio Studios, and Anil Thadani. The high valuation reflects industry confidence in the film’s potential profit given its star-studded lineup.

‘Love & War’ is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on January 21, 2027, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
