In late July, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Goiás filed an appeal to broaden a court‑ordered restructuring of hospital assistance in Goiânia, citing severe deficiencies such as prolonged emergency stays, staff and supply shortages, and misuse of health funds. The prosecutor’s report underscored a growing health‑care crisis and called for additional measures to achieve a structural solution.

A week later, municipal authorities in Goiânia and Gurupi announced concrete steps to address the identified problems. Goiânia opened a new Basic Health Unit in the Lorena Park area and outlined a plan to construct 31 more health units and eight emergency care centers, committing nearly R$ 500 million to the effort. In Gurupi, the "Opera Gurupi" program was launched with R$ 11 million to clear the elective‑surgery waiting list, prioritising patients through the SISREG system. These actions represent the first implementation phase of the broader reforms urged by the prosecutor.
