ByteDance AI-to-B restructuring and Doubao Work launch

Overview

On July 30, 2026, ByteDance announced a major reorganization of its AI-to-business operations to prioritize an AI-first strategy. The Feishu (Lark) product team merged with the Doubao AI-chatbot division to form a combined Doubao product unit led by Zhao Qi. Feishu’s engineering resources moved to the Flow unit, while its sales, marketing, and customer-service staff were transferred to Volcano Engine to form a new Creativity Service Platform under president Tan Dai.

The restructuring follows reports that ByteDance’s AI-related revenue has reached approximately $4 billion annually. The integration aims to embed Doubao’s large-language-model assistant directly into Feishu’s enterprise workflow, transforming the suite into a unified AI-enhanced productivity platform. By August 3, ByteDance noted that Doubao’s daily token calls had exceeded 180 trillion and that over 90% of new Feishu customers also purchase AI products.

On August 25, ByteDance officially launched ‘Doubao Work’, an AI agent designed for enterprise productivity. The tool is capable of autonomously decomposing tasks, managing complex workflows, and accessing corporate context—such as chat histories and documents—via its deep integration with Feishu. Doubao Work can execute long-running tasks through cloud computers and perform diverse functions including writing reports, analyzing data, and generating multimedia content. This launch positions ByteDance to compete with firms like Tencent, Alibaba, and Baidu as the industry shifts focus toward mastering enterprise workflows and proprietary data.
